The fourth heart-stopping novel in James Patterson's Alex Cross series. Just as Alex Cross is beginning to feel that life is good and he is finally coming out of the depression he's been in since the death of his wife, he is called to Union Station train terminal - a man is on the loose, firing at random into the swarming crowds of travellers.
Psychopath Gary Soneji seems determined to go down in a blaze of glory, and he wants Alex Cross to be there. Will this be the final showdown?
Great story but it took half the book to get use to the new reader and the changes in characters voices from the last three stories. I tried, I really did, but in the end the mispronunciations of key character names, the cringeworthy character accents I could not go past one hour.. The narrators are very difficult to listen to. I would have thought that there should be some quality control with narrators. Apparently not.
Mass Market Paperback. Cross' women: While this one manages to avoid death or maiming, this is apparently because she was attacked, her husband killed and she was held hostage in book 3. Cross tracks the man down, but the man is killed in the process of arresting him. Other editions. Very Good. It had a Master padlock, but he had the door open in seconds.
So, I will have to read this one. The slow drawn-out drawl absolutely ruins it for me. I couldn't listen to it for more than an hour. Guess I'll have to read the book.

What made the experience of listening to Cat and Mouse the most enjoyable? Jeff Harding's entertaining narration.
What did you like best about this story? I enjoy Alex Cross books and the story was very good. Any additional comments?
Raj Ghatak was very poor, with robotic, bland narration. Not the best storyline from Patterson. Really two stories strung together for over chapters! Alex Cross role seems to have been as the storyline punchbag. Little suspense but overdone gruesome murders ugh! The story is as usual well paced with no long descriptive pages and a good mix of the crimes interspersed with the personal life of Alex Cross. I wasn't keen on the narration in this and was a bit confused that Soneji is now pronounced differently to the earlier books - every time I heard his name it irritated me!
It is worth getting through it though and has not put me off buying the next, I just wish we could keep the same Alex Cross narrating all of the books. Once again the story was very good, but the different narrator spoilt it very slightly. Jeff Harding is good for other books but ruined it for me here.
Not being racist but he really went over the top trying to be Black which killed the enjoyment for me. I'm not a big reader so thought give audio books a whirl. Love Alex Cross he always solves his cases he always keeps his cool brilliant listen.
Brilliant story but then it's James Patterson read it before but enjoyed again after several years a good story never gets old just ready for the next one and to hear about Christine Johnson.
